Pregnancy

Your pregnant. Congratulations! Also…experiencing fear? Terrified of giving birth? Feeling overhwlemed already? Also, feeling excited? Hopeful? Overjoyed?

Not to mention you are trying to live your day to day life with the physical symptoms you may be experiencing—nausea, heartburn, swollen ankles, losing your teeth, you name it. Symptoms vary far and wide.

For many birth parents, this is the start of a massive identity shift. Even before you meet your child outside of your body, it seems everybody has an opinion about what you should do or not do, the emotions you should be having or not having…

It might feel like a massive load to sort through and carry.

Sometimes, birth parents even feel guilt for really not enjoying being pregnant. At times, birth parents can feel a disconnection from their bodies or themselves in general. This is not an uncommon experience and therapy can help.

Childbirth

Many birth parents carry fear around birth. You might be hoping your birth will look or feel a certain way. You may be really hopeful you will have a natural birth, or be at home. Perhaps you are simply terrified of the pain, losing control, or fearful of something happening to your baby or yourself.

There’s so much conflicting advice around pregnancy, birth, and parenthood in general. Sometimes it’s hard to make a single decision you feel good about amongst all of the noise.

We can work together to help cut through the noise.

How therapy can help

When we work together, I offer a safe and supportive space to explore your pregnancy experiences and fears around birth at a pace that feels right for you.

We will help you feel more connected to yourself and your experience. Build trust in what you know deep down. We can create a space for you to slow down and breathe. Get a minute from the pressure, overwhelm and discover what is really going on and what you need and then go from there. Together.
