Moving towards the life you want to live

Sometimes we know we want something to change, but taking the first step can feel difficult.

You may be feeling stuck, lonely, disconnected from your passions, or unsure how to move forward. Perhaps you have an idea of what you would like your life to look like, but need some support turning that vision into meaningful action.

Motivational Interviewing is a highly effective, collaborative approach that helps people make lasting changes in their lives.

You already have what you need

One of the core beliefs of Motivational Interviewing is that people already possess many of the strengths, resources, ideas and desires needed to create change (Wahab, 2021).

Sometimes those strengths simply need space, support and encouragement to grow.

Rather than telling you what to do, Motivational Interviewing helps uncover your own motivations for change and supports you in moving towards the life you want to live.

A collaborative process

Motivational Interviewing is rooted in compassion and partnership (ibid).

A central principle of this approach is that you are the expert in your own life. You decide what changes you would like to make, when you are ready to discuss them, and what feels realistic for you moving forward.

Nothing is forced. There is no pressure to change something before you are ready.

Instead, we work together to explore your goals and strengthen your confidence in your ability to make meaningful changes.

Most people simply experience it as a supportive and engaging conversation.

Creating lasting change

The effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing is reflected in its wide range of applications and the substantial body of research supporting it. By the end of 2018, there were over 1,000 randomised controlled trials involving Motivational Interviewing (ibid).

Whether you are hoping to build stronger connections, pursue a passion, make lifestyle changes, or move towards a more fulfilling life, Motivational Interviewing can help create a pathway forward.

Together, we can explore what matters most to you and support you in taking meaningful steps towards the life you want to live.
